Young Rider Training Update

TREC Ireland held a training day for Young and Senior Riders on the 19th of January 2013 in Kilmeague, Co. Kildare. The day focused on the introduction of more technical routes to be copied in the map room, taking bearings off a map and grid references. Participants also learned a lot more about the judging of TREC during a practical obstacle session. All riders got the opportunity to practice their control of paces. Young Rider training will continue on the 24th of February in Lenamore Stables near Derry City. All riders wishing to work towards the Senior Championships (above 21 in 2014) is also welcome to attend these training sessions. All sessions cost €30 (€24 TREC Ireland members) and include orienteering, obstacles and control of paces, so they are a full day (10-4).

The long list/ panel of Young Riders will be announced at the end of February 2013. Selection criteria will be in place for selection on to the short list, to be announced after the Open Championships (being held at Gurteen College, Tipperary at the end of May).
