If you are new to TREC, there are many ways to get started. Contact your local group or visit our calendar for details of upcoming events. You do not need to be a member to take part, temporary membership is available for each event.
All le​vels of horse and rider can take part in TREC. For competition, horse must be four years old or over. To compete as an individual riders must be aged 16 or over.
For TREC, you can use the same tack as your horse is normally ridden in, including western and bitless. Standing martingales are not permitted however. Tack can be changed between phases. There is also some specialized equipment for TREC. The equipment list can be found in the download section.
Membership
TREC Ireland membership is for all TREC Ireland and TREC Ireland affiliated Group events. It also gives you voting rights and supports training for both riders and judges.
TREC Ireland currently offers the following membership options:
1. Full Adult membership - €80.
2. Under 21 membership - €45.
3. Family/Couple membership - €120, includes two adults (over 21) & 3 children (under 21).
4. Adult Non Rider membership - €20
5. Supporter membership - Free

Your membership will be valid for 12 months once it is received by TREC Ireland.
NB: For those members of affiliated groups that pay an affiliation fee they may receive a discount on their TREC Ireland membership - please see the membership application forms for more details.
